I found a love for me
Darling just dive right in
And follow my lead
Well I found a girl beautiful and sweet
I never knew you were the someone waiting for me

‘Cause we were just kids when we fell in love
Not knowing what it was
I will not give you up this time
But darling, just kiss me slow, your heart is all I own
And in your eyes you’re holding mine

Baby, I’m dancing in the dark with you between my arms
Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favorite song
When you said you looked a mess, I whispered underneath my breath
But you heard it, darling, you look perfect tonight

Well I found a woman, stronger than anyone I know
She shares my dreams, I hope that someday I’ll share her home
I found a love, to carry more than just my secrets
To carry love, to carry children of our own
We are still kids, but we’re so in love
Fighting against all odds
I know we’ll be alright this time
Darling, just hold my hand
Be my girl, I’ll be your man
I see my future in your eyes

Baby, I’m dancing in the dark, with you between my arms
Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favorite song
When I saw you in that dress, looking so beautiful
I don’t deserve this, darling, you look perfect tonight

Baby, I’m dancing in the dark, with you between my arms
Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favorite song
I have faith in what I see
Now I know I have met an angel in person
And she looks perfect
I don’t deserve this
You look perfect tonight

Facts About the Song “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran

Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” is a pop song/romance ballad that came out in his Platinum album ‘Divide’. The rhythm and tune of the song is slow and soft – and if you happen to be a ballroom dancer, has the right tempo for a Viennese Waltz.

Ed Sheeran is becoming the master of writing modern pop ballads, and ‘Perfect’ is a classic example. The song reached number one on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.

But what is the song about? What inspired the lyrics?

The subject of the song is a British woman by the name of Cherry Seaborn who, in addition to being a childhood friend of Ed is, as can be ascertained from the lyrics of “Perfect”, his love interest.

Before getting into the lyrics breakdown, it would be helpful to see what Ed Sheeran had to say about the song. In an interview with “Music Choice”, Ed Sheeran says he thinks that “Perfect” is better than “Thinking Out Loud.”

“I think the song “Perfect” is actually better than “Thinking Out Loud.” I think there was always a scare that “Thinking Out Loud” would define me and define my career. So I wrote a lot of songs trying to beat it and now I think … I think I have beaten it.”

Cherry Seaborn is a 24-year-old from Suffolk, United Kingdom, the place where Ed Sheeran grew up. So when we come to the words that say “Cause we were just kids when we fell in love” we conclude this refers to a long time love from back in England. Cherry Seaborn fits the description.

Ed Sheeran contemplates the love of his life. He feels so at home with her, they share the same dreams and he wishes he could someday share a home with her. He wants the whole family with kids to deal with her. They may have problems along the way, but love conquers them all.

The song is a blessing for those who are into deep thoughts and music. It signifies how love can create a beautiful difference in a person’s life and makes it worth living.

At the end of the song’s video, we see a picture of Ed and a girl from his high school prom which he keeps with himself because he is still in love with her. Cherry was his high school sweetheart and they came a long way to become partners and get engaged which shows, no matter what, love finds a way.

No doubt “Perfect” will be popping up in many weddings to come. We’ll have to wait and see if one of them will be Ed and Cherry’s. Only time will tell.
